7 Useful smartphone travel tips
How To Get The Most Out Of Your Smartphone
Apps that will make your cell phone very useful
Nowadays all the smartphones have many apps that will turn your mobile into in an inseparable travel companion. Here are 7 uses you can give it to get the most out of them on your next trip:
1.-The soundtrack of your trip
One of the things that excite me most about traveling is enjoying the ride, whether by plane, car, train or even by boat. And having the right playlist is one of the keys, so the first tip is to prepare a list of your favorite songs in any of the streaming music applications. Some of these applications give you the possibility to download the playlists to be available offline, which is ideal when traveling.
2.-No more papers
Another great advantage of having the cell phone always on hand is that it allows you to have your tickets without having to print them. So you can have the information of your flights, transportation, hotel reservations, access to events, festivals or museums. Not only is it much more practical than carrying many papers in your backpack, but also, you will be helping the environment.
A great plus is that you can also activate notifications to remind you the schedules and dates of your flights or events, and that is something that is definitely a plus.

3.-Don’t get lost!
Although when we travel, it is incredible to walk around new cities, definitely what we want is to take advantage of every minute. So, this is one of the best tips that I can share with you: use Google Maps and download the maps of the area that you are going to visit and make sure you have them available offline.
4.- Eat in new places
One of my favorite parts about traveling is being able to try different food. And I’m pretty sure that although almost all travelers particularly enjoy this, sometimes it can be a bit tricky to find local restaurants. The good idea is to check what’s around you and take a look at the reviews on Yelp.
Bonus tip: Google maps also has reviews and photographs in case you do not want to download one more app.
5.- Make sure you always arrive to your destination
Being in a country you don’t know is a beautiful thing but moving from one point to another of the cities you visit can be challenging. This is where your cell phone can help you because you can download the application of the metro system, to know in which points you have to go up and go down, and another option is to request transportation like Uber or Lyft. The big plus is that they pick you up at the particular point and it is a good choice in case you are in a hurry, or you are lost.
Something interesting is also that when using these services you can talk with the drivers and I assure you that their stories are fascinating. Also, they can give you tips for local places that worth the visit.
6.- The best memories
When we go on vacation, we want to take a picture of everything. And sometimes, not all travelers are enthusiastic about carrying a camera. If that is your case, you just have to make sure that your cell phone has enough space, or buy an extra memory card and prepare to capture your favorite moments.
Something that helps me is to take my Go Pro and with the mobile application use my cell phone as a control of the camera, so I didn’t need selfie sticks, and I could have different shots because it allowed me to place the camera at various angles. Many cameras have these types of applications that also enable you to download the images and videos to your phone and edit them.
7.- To waste time
If your trip involves flights with long connections and you have to wait a couple of hours, then other applications will allow you to distract yourself a bit:
Take advantage to see your favorite series or movies: Thanks to the latest update of the Netflix app you can download chapters of your beloved series to see them on your phone without having an Internet connection!
Games are not just for young children: If you don’t love the idea of watching series or movies on a small screen, other options are the mobile games. There are a lot of possibilities, from Tetris, Sudoku, Angry Birds, to more complex and entertaining games. There are free and paid.
After these simple tips, you will surely appreciate your cell phone even more. And to take care of it, I share three simple tips that will simplify your life:
-Bring with you an external battery. There are different sizes and is very useful as this will ensure you have a battery available throughout your day.
-Buy a waterproof case: You never know how the weather will be and better safe than sorry.
– Last but not least. Remember to turn off the data on your cell phone. Better take advantage to connect you to the wi-fi networks of the hotels and the restaurants. Now if you need to have a data plan, especially if you travel to destinations such as the United States or Canada, I recommend you check with your service provider for available roaming packages. Believe me, your wallet will thank you.
